Zimbabwe and Namibia, co-hosts for the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup, have both named their squads. Reigning champion Australia have named Oliver Peake as captain following his impressive performance against India in 2024 U19 ODI final.
Nottinghamshire spinner Farhan Ahmed will lead England’s Young Lions, with Hampshire fast bowler Caleb Falconer as Vice Captain.
Ireland
Ireland will make their ninth appearance at the Under-19 World Cup and have been placed into Group B with hosts Zimbabwe and Tanzania. Ireland qualified by winning the 2009 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier held in Canada, beating U-19 teams from Hong Kong, Canada, Sierra Leone Vanuatu and Netherlands.
Australia have appointed 19-year-old Oliver Peake as captain, following an impressive Big Bash League season for Melbourne Renegades. Kasey Barton, Naden Cooray and Jayden Draper will join him as members of his squad.
Luke Hands (Lancashire) has been added to England Under-19 squad for their white-ball tour of the Caribbean this month as replacements for Jamie Feldman (Middlesex) and Matt Firbank (Yorkshire). Additionally, Caleb Falconer from Yorkshire spinner has also been chosen.
Japan
The Japan Under-19 Cricket Team represents Japan internationally at an under-19 level in international cricket tournaments such as ICC Under-19 World Cup qualifiers and regional tournaments. Recently, Japan Cricket Association invested in creating a turf block at Sano International Cricket Ground that was completed in 2016. This investment will serve as a stepping stone for continued international growth within Japan.
Farhan Ahmed of Nottinghamshire spinner has been appointed captain of the Young Lions for this month’s white-ball tour to the Caribbean, providing preparation for next year’s International Cricket Council Under-19 Men’s World Cup co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Australia will look to defend their title this tournament and will be led by Oliver Peake who has enjoyed a strong Big Bash League season for Melbourne Renegades. There will be 16 teams competing, starting off with co-hosts Zimbabwe and Namibia taking on India and Tanzania for their opening match-up.
New Zealand
New Zealand finished runners-up at the last U19 World Cup held in India and have assembled an experienced squad to compete again this year. Central Districts seamer Matt Rowe and Canterbury wicket-keeper Sam Jones make their debuts – Rowe following in his father’s footsteps while Jones is the grandson of former White Ferns fast bowler Jeremy Coney; Auckland opening batsman James Nelson also earned his place due to leading runs at an NZC Under-19 men’s national tournament held in Lincoln.
Pakistan
Co-host nations Zimbabwe and Namibia have both unveiled their squads for the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, with hosts Zimbabwe selecting Simbarashe Mudzengerere as captain and reigning champions Australia naming Oliver Peake to lead them as their captain; 19-year-old Oliver is expected to build upon his previous success from leading Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League this season as Melbourne Renegades reached finals of Big Bash League 2018.
Pakistan have appointed Farhan Yousaf as their captain for this competition, including Vaibhav Suryavanshi (batting prodigy) and Ali Raza (bowling superstar) – two players instrumental to Pakistan claiming the 2025 U19 Asia Cup victory.
England have assembled an impressive squad for this tournament. Thomas Rew (Lancashire) and Caleb Falconer both earned their debut Young Lions caps against Bangladesh this summer; both will hope to build on these performances at this tournament. Manny Lumsden and James Maynard may make their Young Lions debuts; these two replace Jamie Feldman and Matt Firbank who were both injured during that series and won’t play.
Scotland
Australia have named Oliver Peake as their captain for the 2026 edition of the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, to be hosted jointly by Zimbabwe from January 15 to February 6. Peake scored an unbeaten 46 in the final of last tournament and will enter this competition after enjoying an outstanding Big Bash League season with Melbourne Renegades.
Scotland won just one match during their previous tournament appearance of 2024; Thomas Knight will lead his side into battle alongside Shlok Thaker and Shreyas Tekale. Other members include Max Chaplin, Finlay Carter, Rory Grant, Olly Jones Sam Hughes George Cutler Ethan Ramsay Manu Saraswat Shlok Thaker
Sri Lanka
Junior world champions have assembled their squads for the 2026 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Co-hosts Zimbabwe appointed Simbarashe Mudzengerere as captain, while Australia named Oliver Peake to lead them as their skipper following an impressive Big Bash League season with Melbourne Renegades as well as scoring an unbeaten 46 in last year’s U19 ODI World Cup Final against India. Ayush Mhatre and Vihaan Malhotra will serve as deputy skippers while 14-year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been added for this tournament.
Hampshire’s Thomas Rew has been chosen to lead England Under-19s against Sri Lanka in early January in three-match one-day and two-day series, taking over for Jamie Feldman (Middlesex) and Matt Firbank (Yorkshire). Rew will be joined by Nottinghamshire spinner Farhan Ahmed after joining from mid series tour of Bangladesh this summer; Lancashire Luke Hands and Yorkshire Jay Singh have also been included as non travelling reserves in preparation for 2026 ICC Under 19 World Cup tournament taking place next year (Namibia and Zimbabwe respectively). These matches will serve as preparation ahead of this year’s 2026 ICC Under 19 World Cup tournament taking place next year (ie 21 matches between both teams).
