Nepal suffered another setback at ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 when they fell to Canada in King City and recorded only one win against five losses so far in this tournament.
Captain Rohit Paudel led Nepal with an outstanding score of 60 off 83 deliveries, followed by opener Aasif Sheikh (48 off 40 balls) and Kushal Malla (52). Additionally, both made half centuries.

ODI
Nepal and Canada will meet for their One-Day International at Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City at 8:30 PM IST. Willow TV in Canada and USA, FanCode app and website in India will all live-stream the match live-streamed it live-stream it live!

Nepal currently enjoys the upper hand in their head-to-head matchup against Canada in one-day internationals (ODIs), as they have won three of four matches against them while Canada only managed a single victory. T20I
Nepal and Canada will meet at King City Sports Complex for their second T20I of their five-match series at T20 International League 2, looking to take control of their five-game series by winning matches against each other. Nepal have only won once during this competition so far and hope that victory against Canada can change their fortunes in this competition. Only four teams from this T20I League 2 competition will advance to compete in an ICC World Cup Qualifier tournament while repechage tournaments await those that fail to make it.
Nepal will aim to win its inaugural Twenty20 International since their dismal performance at the 2024 T20 World Cup. They currently rank 17th on ICC T20I rankings and will hope to improve in order to qualify for 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
Nepal are currently competing in an ICC T20I Tri-Series against Oman and Canada. After winning their opening two matches of this series against Oman by 5 wickets each time and losing to Canada by 8 wickets respectively, winning against Canada will be key if Nepal are to improve their rankings and qualify for qualifiers.
Nepal set Oman a target of 157 runs and finished on 157/7 in their innings against them. Unfortunately, Nepal struggled in their pursuit and lost momentum around mid innings due to Oman’s bowlers making it hard for Nepal’s batsmen to score runs; nevertheless they managed to reach their target with just over three balls remaining in play.
Nepal battled hard in game two but were unable to score enough runs to make it competitive. Aasif Sheikh won Player of the Match honors with an outstanding batting performance – scoring an excellent 81 off 98 balls! Bhim Sharki scored 50 runs while Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took four and three wickets respectively.
Nepal played Namibia in their next day/night match of the tournament and emerged victorious by four wickets with 186 balls left, led by wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh who broke Binod Bhandari’s record of 22 dismissals by an ODI wicketkeeper for Nepal and fast bowler Basir Ahamad making his ODI debut for Nepal during this encounter.
Nepal and Papua New Guinea will meet for the final match of this series in Dubai, and Nepal are looking to build on their win against PNG by qualifying for T20I qualifiers. Only four teams advance from these qualifiers to take part in ICC World Cup Qualifier; those below them play repechage tournament in India. Nepal will complete this series before heading over to America to compete in ICC T20I League 2 USA Tri-series from September 28 – October 1.
Test
Nepal defeated Oman 2-0 in two ODIs during their 2021 series. Both games were won by Nepal. Sandeep Lamichhane bowled four overs with 4/35 bowled in his 10 overs to claim man of the match award; Rohit Paudel scored 41 off 65 balls as support. Nepal secured another win by an easy margin of 151 runs; this match marked Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh and Bikram Sob’s debuts as Nepali ODI players for Nepali teams.
On February 10th 2024, Nepal achieved a landmark. They successfully chased down an ODI target of 286 runs to set a national run chase record – Rohit Paudel and Gulsan Jha’s brilliant innings led them to success by breaking two national records: most runs by wicketkeeper and highest partnership for an ODI match.
Nepal set several records during this match, including the lowest total ever scored in an ODI (10) against Myanmar after bowling them out for just 10 in just 12.1 overs (including five ducks and three wides). Many considered it to be one of the greatest mismatches ever witnessed by international cricket; others even called it one of its worst games ever!
Nepal is currently competing in ICC Cricket World Cup League Division Two and hopes to make the top four teams qualify for ICC World Cup Qualifier tournament, the last step before qualifying for ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
