Zimbabwe’s batting remains a key weakness, but their fielding keeps them competitive in this game. Dion Myers successfully clears a short third man fielder off Avesh Khan to add four runs to Zimbabwe’s total score.
Bishnoi has continued his campaign of chaos against Zimbabwean batsmen. On his opening ball he has struck for a boundary and delivered an over of overs.
In this article, we will discuss the main points or high lights of Zimbabwe National Cricket Team vs India National Cricket Team Match Scorecard.
Zimbabwe vs India 1st T20I
India’s young batting lineup was decimated by a vibrant Zimbabwe side led by Sikandar Raza in their first T20I at Harare Sports Club on Saturday. Shubman Gill’s side, bereft of any World Cup-winning players, were dismissed for just 115 runs within 20 overs, with Clive Madande’s 29 off 25 deliveries providing only respite for their hosts.
Starting off the match in Harare, Indian batters struggled with its spongy bounce. Meanwhile, spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar proved adept at running through the home side’s top order, taking wickets regularly with regularity from Ravi’s ballistic spin.
India’s third bowler Mukesh Kumar got things underway successfully by dismissing Luke Jongwe and Dion Myers with swift deliveries, who combined for 68 runs between them on the fourth wicket to help Zimbabwe cross 100 in just 10 overs.
But things quickly unravelled as batsmen failed to stay at the crease. Avesh Khan picked up one wicket in the next over when he trapped Raza leg before and thus set in motion a major collapse of their innings, with Sikandar Raza and Washington Sundar following suit in ending proceedings in dismal fashion.
Myers was next to be dismissed when Tendai Chatara caught him at deep cover off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowler Tendai Chatara for 35 runs before Ravi Bishnoi pinged Kaia leg before. Tadiwanashe Marumani and Innocent Kaia combined to share an opening partnership of 35 runs before Ravi Bishnoi caught Kaia out pinned leg before.
Madhevere square drives it square to the boundary for four. Khaleel returns for another over. Myers attempts to play it on the up, but hits it for six. On his next delivery he misses out on hitting an even bigger six.
After being hit by another short delivery from Mukesh Kumar, Myers attempted a reverse sweep but was defeated to the punch by Madhevere for one. Khaleel sealed off this over with another powerful delivery to secure India a wicket in its final over.
Zimbabwe vs India 2nd T20I
India made an incredible comeback from losing their opening T20I match, coming back strong to win both matches of this series, taking an impressive win in match two with skipper Shubman Gill leading a young batsmen including Abhishek Sharma who put on an amazing performance, Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag also impressed and it gave youngster’s an opportunity to establish themselves within national side.
Zimbabwe’s young team was completely overmatched by India’s bowling attack and were unable to hit big shots at critical moments of the innings. Sikandar Raza took three wickets while Ravi Bishnoi and Tendai Chatara also caused misery for Zimbabwean hosts. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe, fielding errors cost them the game as they lost an abundance of opportunities that may have resulted in winning scores for India and Zimbabwe respectively.
With the series tied at 1-1, both teams will now look to win their remaining two matches and seal victory in the series. India have a formidable squad consisting of experienced campaigners as well as young IPL talents and will hope to use these resources effectively in coming games.
India won the second T20I and elected to bat first, fielding an experienced lineup featuring Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, their run rate fell short as wickets kept being lost at regular intervals.
Zimbabwe started strong in their innings thanks to Brendan Taylor and Vusi Sibanda as their openers, but their middle order quickly fizzled out after failing to capitalize on early opportunities and were eventually bowled out for a low total in the end. Zimbabwe spinner Wellington Masakadza warned India not to underestimate them after the match as Zimbabwe can be dangerous on any given day and intends on exploiting home conditions as much as possible in order to win this five-match series.
Zimbabwe vs India 3rd T20I
On Wednesday at Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe and India met in their third T20I of a five-match series. Zimbabwe won by 23 runs to take an unassailable lead 2-1 in the series. Young Indian batsmen battered Zimbabwean bowlers into submission with unbeaten half centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill leading them. Washington Sundar and Mukesh Kumar provided wickets for India.
Zimbabwe, in contrast, faced difficulty with their batting and were unable to reach the target. They lost wickets frequently after opener Wessly Madhevere fell for a duck in the second over; but Dion Myers and Clive Madande kept their home side competitive by sharing an unbeaten 77-run stand that kept Zimbabwe within reach of success in their pursuit.
Once they were out, Zimbabwe fell short by 13 runs in an uphill chase on an unforgiving pitch; their bowling proved inconsistent as well.
Dinesh Karthik will also return to India’s line-up after playing for Sri Lanka last time around, contributing his stellar strike rate in T20I cricket and giving more stability to Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan off the bench. Karthik will give India’s chances of victory a significant boost.
Zimbabwe vs India 4th T20I
India displayed excellent bat and ball skills, scoring an easy 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in their fourth Twenty20 International of this five-match series at Harare Sports Club. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 93 to help India chase down an under par target of 152 runs within 20 overs at Harare Sports Club – their best total yet for this series and also highest total from an away side in this matchup.
Young Indian batsmen were relentless in their attacks against Zimbabwean bowlers, who struggled to contain their aggression. It was the first time on this tour that Zimbabwe conceded over 200 runs in any T20I and hosts would surely have been pleased with their bowling performance, even if they were less than stellar with bat and ball.
Khaleel bowls a Dot Ball to Riyan Parag, who smashes it through cover for four. Khaleel’s next short delivery hits Riyan on his pad but review proves otherwise due to it pitching outside leg stump.
Zimbabwe quickly progresses past their score of 120/6 after Myers fails in his attempt to reverse-sweep, hitting straight drives through midwicket for fours bringing them up to 122/6 by 14th over.
Ravi Bishnoi enters the fray and, thanks to some brilliant fielding by Washington Sundar, Campbell escapes unbeaten for a duck. On his next attempt at hitting a six off Ravi’s bowling but it misses completely and he is out bowled without scoring any runs.
India are in control of the series with a 2-1 advantage after winning all three T20I matches on this tour, including winning the fourth one-day international (T20I). Their victory provided a much-needed lift after two disappointing opening matches were lost by them; Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad both scored half centuries to help lead India home while Dion Myers and Blessing Muzarabani played well for Zimbabwe but did not capitalise on missed opportunities to score runs.
