Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 1st ODI
Afghanistan and Bangladesh will start playing their inaugural ODI match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium starting at 5 pm local time, Afghanistan having won the toss and elected to bat first.
Afghanistan openers have struggled to get going so far, but are in good form overall. Bangladesh bowlers have not put undue strain on batsmen but need to improve this area.
Bangladesh batsmen finally got going a few overs later. Aided by some big shots from Shanto, they reached 130/3 after 29.4 overs. Unfortunately for them though, Rashid Khan removed Shanto as part of a 55-run partnership between him and Mehidy Hasan that ended when Shanto was removed by Rashid Khan; although this wicket slowed their innings down further they must keep pushing forward now.
Nangeyalia Kharote was also ineffective, conceding four runs off his over, before being replaced by Mohammad Nabi who continued the Bangladesh innings forward.
Nabi proved more successful against Bangladesh pacers when using his long handle to strike sixes off Mustafizur Rahman and then hit one over deep mid-wicket for another six.
Bangladesh spinners Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam haven’t been as effective, failing to pick any wickets. Bangladesh batsmen will hope that dew can turn this around in their favor in the second innings, but until then it’s important that they play cautiously.
Bangladesh batsmen need to put pressure on Afghan bowlers throughout this game. Although their middle order features several powerful batsmen, it will be important that they do not tire themselves out and lose momentum; by creating strong partnerships they have an opportunity of winning this contest.
Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI
Afghanistan and Bangladesh will face off again at Sharjah Cricket Stadium for a second one-day international (ODI), looking to close out their series after dominating in their opening ODI. Bangladesh have much cause for concern after collapsing in their run chase attempt in game one; Allah Ghazanfar, one of Afghanistan’s key wicket-taker who took six wickets to give them an impressive 92 run win was also featured prominently during this contest.
The match will start at 3:30 PM IST and the pitch is conducive to good batting conditions with some swing. Afghanistan have elected to bat first and should post a competitive score; they must play intelligent cricket with strong partnerships in their middle order to have any chance at victory in this contest.
Afghanistan’s top order struggled in the opening ODI, but Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto have shown positive signs. Together, they have shared in an impressive partnership of 71 runs to give Afghanistan some momentum. Mushfiqur Rahim is also in good nick for Bangladesh on this tough surface and may provide necessary stability.
Shahidi conceded that batting second was no easy feat for them but managed to make an excellent start to their innings. Sediqullah Atal and Rahmat Shah each played vital knocks which added value to their score but Bangladesh bowlers are making life hard for them.
Fazalhaq Farooqi has been bowling an assortment of short and down leg-side deliveries, which Bangladesh batsmen are finding difficult to time accurately, leading them down wicket. These misses have proven costly as Farooqi continues his relentless assault. Bangladesh are still trying to adapt their timing of his deliveries but that has only resulted in further punishment from him.
Bangladesh are struggling to make any inroads into Afghanistan’s powerful attack and have just lost two wickets quickly in two successive innings: Tanzid Hasan was caught off a slog sweep from Rashid Khan, then Mohammad Nabi ran out following miscommunication between himself and a fielder at backward point, before Nasum failed to read an incoming delivery from Shoriful Islam and was dismissed for 26.
Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 3rd ODI
On Monday, November 11th at Sharjah Cricket Stadium will take place the third and final One-Day International between Afghanistan and Bangladesh in an intriguing series tied 1-1. Both sides will come out fighting hard in this contest featuring star players from each side – making for high-octane action with thrilling moments that is sure to leave audiences breathless!
Afghanistan won their opening two ODIs comfortably before Bangladesh shocked them all with a dramatic 68-run triumph in game three. Afghanistan will still be confident of taking this third encounter to secure an important series win with Mohammad Nabi and Allah Ghazanfar on board for them.
Bangladesh will hope to avoid repeating their first innings collapse when starting this innings. They lost four wickets within six overs as their total fell from 53/0 to 72/4 before Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah came together with an outstanding fifth wicket partnership of 145 runs to rescue it and finish on 244/8, well on their way towards an impressive total.
However, they were all out for only 143 runs after losing eight wickets for 20 runs – an unprecedented collapse from visitors who were in such an advantageous position to secure an historic win against Afghanistan.
Middle overs were an intense encounter as both teams battled for survival, but Afghanistan managed to squeeze out victory with just 10 balls remaining thanks to Mahmudullah’s stunning 98, which missed out on being a century by one run. Afghanistan secured a 2-1 series win and maintained their unbeaten ODI record while also earning their fourth consecutive UAE win since their 5-0 home series triumph against New Zealand last September; both victories will give momentum heading into Champions Trophy early next year.
Afghanistan vs Bangladesh 4th ODI
Bangladesh and Afghanistan will compete in their fourth and final ODI at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in United Arab Emirates on November 11. Both sides are tied at three wins each after three encounters and Bangladesh are hoping to break this deadlock for the first time since 2015. The hosts hope they can secure victory against their neighbours by winning this series against them for once since 2015.
Afghanistan U19 took out their third one-day international against UAE at ICC Academy Dubai on Sunday by 13 runs, thanks to Faisal Shinozad and Mahboob Khan’s respective centuries. Afghanistan U19 scored 288/6 in 49 overs before losing all their wickets; UAE were limited to just 190 runs over 45.4 overs before all their wickets fell, Nazeef Amiri and Khatir Stanikzai taking two wickets each to keep UAE score limited and their run-chase limited.
Bangladesh have had an inconsistent series, yet finally began making inroads against Afghanistan with their second One Day International (ODI). They were buoyed by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran’s record-setting opening partnership of 256 runs which provided much-needed momentum. Afghanistan bowlers then did their work, keeping Bangladesh out to limit any chance they had of victory in this match.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad then put on an excellent show, helping Bangladesh amass 244 for 8. Riyad scored an unbeaten 94 runs off only 107 balls while Miraz contributed with 66 not out from 109 deliveries.
Ghazanfar’s 6-26 was enough to dismantle their hopes of reaching their target, bowling an accurate line and length, with Nasum Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman each taking two wickets to support him.
Afghanistan won their second One-Day International against Zimbabwe by 142 runs to take control of their series 3-2 and claim Chattogram as their victory was their largest ODI win ever. Their previous best win had come against Zimbabwe when they beat them by 154 runs in 2018. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman led Afghanistan’s bowling attack with each taking three wickets each; Mujeeb now boasts an imposing total of 86 wickets from 60 ODIs while Farooqi has 75 so far!
