Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic stands out among NBA players as an exceptional center. However, unlike his predecessors who made their mark through low post moves and rebounding alone, Jokic excels through his passing and playmaking. Often described as the greatest passing big man ever seen in NBA history, he not only can accumulate huge statistics with triple-doubles but can also help his team win games through playmaking.
Jokic also boasts impressive offensive and defensive stats. He ranks second on his team for scoring, third for rebounding and is the only Denver Nugget to average over 20 points per game this season. Additionally, his rebounding skills have seen him lead the league several times this year in that regard.
The Nuggets currently hold third place in the Western Conference and Jokic has played a pivotal role in their success this year, earning several All-Star nominations and inclusion on the All-NBA squad. His outstanding play has not gone unnoticed and is being considered for league MVP consideration.
Jokic was instrumental in Denver’s win against the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 29 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists – the second player ever in NBA history to accomplish such an achievement – and his performance helped the Nuggets defeat them 144-139 in overtime.
Jokic has already posted two triple-doubles in just four games of this season, scoring and rebounding well while leading his league with nine assists per game on average – second highest among his peers.
Jokic is also one of the premier passers in the league, capable of creating his own shots from any spot on the court. His fluid passing game allows him to easily pass to teammates he finds open; when receiving passes with back-to-basket or over head passes. Furthermore, his skillful dribbling allows for speed changes without difficulty.
Dennis Schroder
The Brooklyn Nets started the game off strong tonight from three-point range, hitting 7 of 13 attempts overall and using Dennis Schroder to attack in aggressive fashion, sending shockwaves through The Barclays Center while leaving Denver baffled.
In the second quarter, Denver chipped away at Brooklyn’s lead and added several points of their own, while Brooklyn continued with their high-volume shot diet that would satisfy any basketball modernist. Twenty of their 21 shots taken during that period either came in the paint or from long range.
As the fourth quarter progressed, their volume combined with solid defensive efforts from the team helped the Nets maintain a comfortable lead. But, then came Ziaire Williams who scored 18 points off 4-of-5 triples while contributing four assists on top. That made Denver work to keep their lead. Suddenly the intensity level increased even further for Brooklyn as Denver sweated hard while probing inside for high percentage opportunities, driving and kicking for open looks, making Denver work for every shot, driving to create high percentage opportunities of their own and forcing Denver work harder than expected! He played well – scoring 18 points on 4-of-5 triples while chipping in four assists during his run with one game!
Denver was able to keep pace as the game entered overtime, but Brooklyn managed to hold off any attempt by them to comeback and score. If they hope to earn their first home win of 2019, Monday will be crucial as well!
Dennis Schroder will miss this game due to an ankle injury and will likely see more minutes from Keon Johnson and Cam Thomas than usual.

Cam Thomas
After their thrilling overtime win against Toronto, Denver made their way to Brooklyn where they faced off against the Nets. A tightly contested contest ensued between both teams before Denver emerged victorious by scoring 144-139 in overtime thanks to Nikola Jokic and their bench players being huge contributors.
The Nets were in trouble early as they fell behind by 17 points in the first quarter. While they managed to play better in the second, their deficit could only be cut further to one point before closing further still.
Cam Thomas was an integral component of the Nets bench performance as he registered 25 points and six rebounds. Although not his most efficient shooting night, Thomas made some nice shots while being an effective distributor as well.
Thomas has been an important source of fantasy production for the Nets this season. Over his last ten games he has averaged 23.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists, along with 2.5 blocks per game on defense.
Last game against the Knicks he was instrumental to their victory as he scored 41 points despite their defeat, marking his third 40-point performance of the year and top scoring spot among league players. As he recovers from this injury he may miss more games but Keon Johnson and Tyrese Martin will likely see increased playing time during that period.
Thomas was initially listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against Milwaukee; however, he has shown signs of improvement since starting practicing five-on-five this week. Although he’s likely to miss some or all of their West Coast road trip, Thomas should return next week against Boston bringing much-needed offensive spark as well as giving Keon Johnson and Tyrese Martin more playing time due to Thomas’ absence.
Cam Johnson
After returning from their road win on Tuesday night, the Denver Nuggets traveled quickly back east for their rematch against former teammate Cam Johnson’s Brooklyn Nets in an overtime battle that Denver ultimately won 144-139 in favor of Jokic and Murray while Cam Thomas and Dennis Schroder also contributed greatly.
The Nuggets struggled in the opening quarter as they struggled with energy and defense, giving the Nets an early lead that they held until its conclusion. Denver managed to improve in the second period as they played with more vigor.
However, the Nets kept rolling and were able to extend their lead throughout most of the third quarter. While Denver had chances to cut into it, none were successful until Cam Johnson hit a massive three pointer to narrow it back down to nine with just under two minutes remaining in play.
Johnson would ultimately not complete the game, though. Unfortunately for Denver, Johnson suffered an injury to his hip that will be questionable for several games; fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his status. Still a great option in deeper leagues, fantasy managers should monitor his status closely in coming weeks.
In Johnson’s absence, Jeremy Lin will likely serve as starting point guard for the Nets. Though Lin has played well lately, he wasn’t very effective against Denver due to foul trouble. While they hope he returns soon as Johnson is key for keeping them playoff hopeful, until then players like Noah Clowney, Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson must cover his minutes during rotations.
