West Indies Cricket Team Vs England Cricket Team Match Scorecard

West Indies have taken an early 1-0 lead in this three-match series thanks to Brandon King and Keacy Carty scoring centuries for West Indies in both matches so far. England were left reeling following this thumping loss but Phil Salt, Dan Mousley and Liam Livingstone all provided memorable moments throughout.

Motie’s early wicket rocked England’s chase, but his appeal against being edged to the bowler was denied when he edged to him instead of hitting out to a review.

In this article, we will discuss the main points of West Indies Cricket Team Vs England Cricket Team Match Scorecard.

In the ODI series, the West Indies secured a 3-0 victory over England. In the T20I series, England triumphed with a 4-1 win.

First Session

West Indies have scored an emphatic win in the series-deciding third ODI thanks to an unbeaten 128 by Carty and Brandon King’s career-best 102 score, which combined to provide West Indies a comprehensive win. England batsmen struggled to keep pace with Windies bowlers who took control from ball one.

England’s batsmen can take heart in knowing they have not lost a wicket so far in this match, with Rory Burns starting his team off well with an assured boundary through the covers from Rory himself. Unfortunately for hosts England however, due to a rain break it appears as though play has come to a halt and all efforts at progress may now have come to naught for now.

Jofra Archer steps on to bowl the final over of the Powerplay and nearly got one of those crucial wickets early – Lewis attempted to pull a lifter which went to second slip, where Jamie Overton couldn’t hold onto it; but Archer lost on reviewing that LBW call which allowed Lewis to survive.

Windies batsmen have plenty of experience scoring runs on this surface, yet are determined not to let this game slip away from them.

England have made just one change for this session, replacing Obed McCoy with Romario Shepherd to shorten the tail somewhat. Unfortunately, this does not help; Jos Buttler was out lbw off Phil Salt’s first ball of the over after making strides towards reaching 50 runs in one innings.

Second Session

With only a few exceptions, England’s bowlers have had an extremely challenging time on this track. Their efforts have been challenged at every turn by an exuberant West Indies side who didn’t hesitate to take risks. Eventually, however, Windies won the series that looked most likely for them to lose.

England had some glimpses of what’s to come on an otherwise unsuccessful day against Australia on September 23, but ultimately experienced defeat due to missing key players such as Jos Buttler who is set to lead them again as captain for T20I series starting November 9th. Debutants John Turner, Jamie Overton and Dan Mousley performed strongly while Jos Buttler made his expected comeback as captain with another impressive display as captain slated for starting on November 9. Nevertheless there were positives – debutants John Turner, Jamie Overton and Dan Mousley all looked good alongside an excellent display from Jos Buttler who is set to lead them again as captain before T20I series starts on November 9th vs Australia with Jos Buttler set to lead his side from behind the baton this time round!!

After an initially slow start, England batsmen quickly secured themselves an advantage going into lunch. Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope capitalized on loose deliveries from West Indies bowlers to build an early foundation, while Joe Root kept his cool to score 132 and set England a challenging total to defend.

However, after the break the Windies began to tighten their grip. Jayden Seales and Matthew Forde quickly struck with wickets to put the middle order back on the back foot; Roston Chase and Gudakesh Motie bowled well without significant reward; yet their spinners managed to exert control in the final Powerplay to limit scoring.

Joseph unleashes an off-length delivery, on off, which Shoaib Bashir attempts to bat through without much success but cannot escape an outside edge which was caught by Jason Holder at second slip and went straight through to make England all out for 416 runs.

And with that, the final pitch of the day. A light drizzle has begun to fall, but play should resume shortly enough. Make sure to stay around to follow along!

Third Session

As expected, there was an initial delay at the beginning of this final session due to raindrops soaking the outfield; umpires decided to wait for rainfall to subside before trying to resume play, however that soon became impossible and they decided instead to call off play at 6.47pm.

With their bat, West Indies tried to recover after their defeat on Day 2, but England bowlers continued their impressive work; Mark Wood took five wickets while Chris Woakes played an essential part in leading England to victory.

Rovman Powell was full of praise for the bowlers after the first Test, yet acknowledged they lost wickets too often and must improve their concentration to win Test matches. Powell also singled out Akeal Hosein for his tight bowling performance and paid tribute to him.

West Indies ended the first session on 151 for 5 after making quick work of their visitors’ lower order. Gudakesh Motie made an outstanding effort as an opening batsman who missed some early opportunities but put in an exceptional effort overall.

Jos Buttler and Sam Curran provided crucial support to England’s batsmen as they helped them build an early lead, while Joe Root and Harry Brook also contributed significantly towards reaching an impressive total.

England made quick work of West Indies batsmen as they failed to find their rhythm, amassing 317 for two in the morning session and opening up an 182-run lead at the end of Day 1. Joe Root and Ben Stokes both hit fifties to give England an impressive start on day 1.

Final Session

At Lord’s, England are still in control following winning the toss and are in a prime position following winning by 241 runs at Edgbaston earlier in this match. But they must continue pushing further than was achieved previously at Edgbaston.

Reece Topley took early control in the final session by bowling Brandon King (3), Evin Lewis (13) and Shimron Hetmyer (0) in successive overs, leaving just Shai Hope unbeaten on two runs after hitting an on side pull for two with his first delivery in that session. Now just 10 runs are remaining to score, giving hosts an advantage.

Nat Sciver-Brunt and MacDonald-Gay have taken over for England in an attempt to reach an unassailable total during this session of play.

They have set themselves an ambitious goal of 244, and they are well on their way towards meeting it. Although it won’t be easy, they know they have what it takes to accomplish this feat.

Sciver-Brunt and MacDonald-Gay must battle hard for runs, yet are keeping pace with their run rate with ease. Just recently they have crossed 100 runs thanks to some stellar batting performances by both of them.

Both batsmen have reached ten and can’t afford any further wickets at this stage of the game. There was an unsuccessful LBW appeal against MacDonald-Gay before she edged the next ball into the gully region for four. There have been quite a few dot balls being bowled and they will need to keep fighting in order to come away victorious from this encounter.

Now is the home team’s last chance and they must not let it slip away!
