2. Andre Russell

After an inauspicious start for Kolkata, Andre Russell took control of their innings with sixes blasted off with ease to put them back into contention. Reaching his maiden IPL fifty off just 26 balls as Kolkata closed in on victory, Andre’s performance earned him both man of the match award as well.

After losing three wickets during the Powerplay, Pat Cummins and his bowling colleagues did well to restrict KKR’s run chase by producing an outstanding five-over performance, assisted by outstanding fielding from players like Shubman Gill who took an exceptional catch to dismiss Jonny Bairstow at point.

Though they had made every attempt possible to reach 200 runs, the Hyderabad batsmen fell short by falling all out for only 113 in 18.3 overs – an unprecedented total ever scored in an IPL final regardless of who batted first or second.

Russell was once again the star performer for KKR as he put on an unbeaten show, hitting seven sixes and four fours to score 168 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 256 and become the first player in IPL history to score 200 sixes for any franchise.
